Trump’s Texas Record: Lower Taxes, Safer Streets
The White House released a sweeping record of results this week as President Donald Trump returned to Texas — and the numbers tell a powerful story: historic tax relief, safer streets, the most secure border in a generation, and a wave of new private investment pouring into the Lone Star State.
Historic Tax Relief for Texas Families
President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts is putting real money back in Texans’ pockets. About one in four Texas workers no longer pay federal income taxes on qualifying overtime pay under the new No Tax on Overtime provision, and roughly four million Texas seniors benefit from the new senior deduction that ends tax on Social Security.
The numbers are striking: Texas taxpayers saw average refunds of $4,344 — the second-highest in the nation. The tax cuts safeguarded 547,000 Texas jobs, preserved $107 billion in state GDP, and protected $51 billion in workers’ wages. Texas also secured about $281 million in first-year Rural Health Transformation Program funding, bringing care to communities that need it most.
Safer Streets Across the Lone Star State
Violent crime is falling across Texas as a direct result of President Trump’s law-and-order agenda. Violent crime fell 13% last year, including a 13% drop in murder and an 11% drop in rape. The top 25 most populous jurisdictions in Texas all posted lower overall crime rates than the year before.
The turnaround is dramatic in specific cities: in the first half of 2026, Arlington homicides fell 60% compared to the first half of 2025. America’s Safest Big Cities rankings recently placed Plano, Laredo, and Arlington in the national Top 20 — with Plano and Laredo in the Top 10. Texas communities are safer because criminals know consequences are back.
The Strongest Border in a Generation
On the border, the administration reports it has not released a single migrant at the southern border for 16 straight months, with apprehensions far lower than under the prior administration. The White House calls it the most secure border in a generation — a night-and-day reversal from the chaos of previous years.
That border security feeds directly into the crime numbers. When the border is sealed and criminal aliens are removed instead of released, Texas neighborhoods get safer. It is the same formula the administration is applying nationwide.
Investment Pouring Into Texas
President Trump’s economic agenda is driving major private-sector commitments across Texas, with dozens of new corporate investment announcements promoted as job creators — including projects from Vantage Data Centers and SpaceX. Companies are choosing to build in Texas because the policies are pro-growth: lower taxes, less red tape, and energy that is affordable and reliable.
From tax relief to safer streets to a sealed border, the Texas record shows what the Trump agenda delivers when fully applied. Texas is thriving — and the White House says the rest of the country is next.
