Trump Slams Fox News Over ‘Softball’ El-Sayed Interview

President Donald Trump is not happy with Fox News — and he’s naming names. Trump tore into the network this week for giving Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed what he called a “softball” interview, accusing Fox of promoting Democrats while sidelining Republicans and MAGA.

“She Never Interviews Me Like That”

The blast came Tuesday on Truth Social, a day after El-Sayed appeared on Fox News’ “The Story” with anchor Martha MacCallum. Trump singled out MacCallum directly:

“All they talk about is Dumocrat Jihadists like El-Sayed, with his softball interview by Martha MacCallum, and the like. She never interviews me like that.”

Trump argued the network spends more time covering Democratic candidates than “the good old fashioned Republicans, the people that have saved America, and are making it great again.”

Rallies Ignored, Rivals Platformed

The president’s frustration went beyond one interview. He complained that Fox skips his “record breaking Rallies” the morning after while other networks cover them positively — and warned that MAGA viewers are watching: “Our people want to see our Rallies, and reports on our Rallies, on FoxNews, or they will very quickly stop watching.”

Trump also ripped Fox for giving airtime to independent Nebraska Senate candidate Dan Osborn, who is running against Republican Senator Pete Ricketts: “FoxNews is long form interviewing the sleazebag, Dan Osborn, right now… Why are they doing this??? The ‘other side’ doesn’t give our people any positive exposure or airtime.”

The Interview That Started It

El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for Michigan’s Senate seat, appeared on “The Story” on Monday, October 5th, where MacCallum questioned him on terrorism, Iran, Medicare for All, and campaign financing. The race against former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers is one of the most-watched contests of the November 3rd midterms, with Senate control on the line.

Republican operatives had already been grumbling for weeks — including over Fox host Jesse Watters’ surprisingly warm comments about El-Sayed, which the Democrat’s campaign promptly turned into a TV ad. MacCallum went on to interview Rogers himself later on Tuesday.

Trump’s Pick: Mike Rogers

Trump made his own position crystal clear, issuing a “complete and total endorsement” of Mike Rogers while calling El-Sayed a “terrible candidate” and a “RADICAL Extremist.” In Trump’s words, Rogers is “an extremely good” candidate, while El-Sayed’s values “are not exactly those of Michiganders.”

Fox Pushes Back

Fox News Media President Jay Wallace defended MacCallum’s interview, telling Axios the network is willing to air material its core audience might not welcome: “But that’s what we do.”

The Takeaway

This is the latest round in Trump’s on-again, off-again feud with the network that was once his home turf. With the midterms less than a month away and Senate control hanging in the balance, the president is making sure his base knows exactly where he stands — and exactly who he thinks is letting them down.
