Trump Ohio Rally Today: Backing Husted in Vandalia
President Donald Trump brings his midterm campaign blitz to Ohio today, headlining a rally at Butler High School in Vandalia — a Dayton suburb — in support of Senator Jon Husted. The event marks another stop in what Trump has billed as a 32-day marathon of rallies to sell his economic record before November 3.
A Senate Seat That Could Decide Everything
The Ohio race is one of the most consequential on the 2026 map. Husted, whom Governor Mike DeWine appointed to the Senate after JD Vance became vice president, faces a competitive challenge from former Senator Sherrod Brown, who is attempting a comeback two years after losing his seat.
The winner serves the final two years of Vance’s term — and the outcome could determine which party controls the Senate for the rest of Trump’s term. Polls show a close contest, which is why both parties have flooded the Buckeye State with ad money.
The Details of Today’s Rally
According to the Republican National Committee, doors open at 3:30 p.m. at the Student Activity Center at Butler-Vandalia High School — one of the largest high school event venues in southwest Ohio, with seating for 4,500. The program begins at 5:30 p.m., with Trump scheduled to speak at 7 p.m.
Trump has vowed to campaign in 35 of the most competitive battleground races in the final sprint to the midterms. Saturday’s stop follows his Thursday events in Texas and Oklahoma and a Friday rally in Alabama.
Ohio Is Trump Country
The president arrives on friendly turf. Trump carried Ohio by 11 percentage points in 2024, and Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou told the Associated Press the party was eager for his help. “We definitely want him here,” he said. “He’s a turnout driver for us.”
The plan is simple: pack the arena, fire up the base, and hammer home the economic message — factories reopening, wages rising, and jobless claims at a 57-year low.
