Christina Ricci Fires Back at MAGA Voter on Threads

Christina Ricci has never been shy about speaking her mind online, and her latest exchange on Threads is proving it all over again. The Yellowjackets star fired back at a 71-year-old MAGA voter who declared her family’s loyalty to Donald Trump — and her blunt reply spread across social media within hours.

The exchange started with a simple political declaration. It ended with one of the most talked-about celebrity clapbacks of the midterm season.

The Exchange That Started It

The back-and-forth began on Threads, where a user named @janhunterlan posted about her family’s voting plans ahead of the midterm elections. The 71-year-old wrote that her family — spread across California, Texas, Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania — would be voting “straight Red” in the November 3 elections.

“We don’t want a communist representing us. We are MAGA. And we won’t bend to them,” she wrote, in a post responding to a viral message from a Texas woman urging support for Democratic candidates in the long-Republican state.

The post caught Ricci’s attention, and the actress — known for her unfiltered presence on the platform — decided to answer it directly.

Ricci’s Blunt Reply

Ricci did not argue policy. Instead, she went straight at what the voter’s support meant in her view.

“So you’re a sadist then?” she asked, opening her reply with a five-word question that quickly became the headline of the exchange.

She followed up by asking whether the voter enjoyed seeing other people suffer, arguing that backing the current Republican agenda amounted to voting for “more cruelty and suffering for your fellow human beings. And animals actually.”

The reply was classic Ricci: short, sharp, and impossible to ignore. Within hours, screenshots of the exchange were circulating on Reddit and across other platforms, where fans praised the actress for saying what many of them were thinking.

“Never take your foot off their neck, Christina,” one commenter wrote, while another declared: “Like usual she’s right. Miss Ricci is forever the GOAT.”

Not everyone was convinced the approach would change minds. Some observers noted that the exchange was more likely to rally people who already agreed with her than to persuade a voter who had made up her mind — a fair point about the limits of celebrity political sparring online.

Not Her First Online Clash

For anyone who follows Ricci on social media, the exchange was hardly a surprise. The actress has built a reputation for confronting public figures and commentators head-on.

In March, she fired back at conservative influencer Emily Wilson, who had claimed that “fat chicks vote democrat.” Ricci’s response was characteristically direct: “I’m skinnier than you you asshole and I still vote democrat or as liberal as I can because there is more to life than being thin. What you contribute to this world is what matters, loser.”

Over the summer, she also drew cheers for her response to MAGA influencer Andrew Tate, who had taken to social media to complain about jail conditions after being arrested alongside his brother Tristan on rape and trafficking allegations. Ricci, who serves as the national spokesperson for the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), did not hold back.

Earlier this year, she also criticized Jimmy Fallon for interviewing Conor McGregor, arguing that the appearance gave the fighter an inappropriate platform.

Away from social media, Ricci remains busy. She recently signed on for Peacock’s adaptation of Carinn Jade’s novel “The Astrology House,” adding another project to a career that has spanned from Addams Family Values to Yellowjackets.

But it is her online voice — unfiltered, unbothered and unafraid of a fight — that keeps her name trending. This latest exchange is only the newest example of why her followers never have to wonder where she stands.
