Trump Launches ‘Swamp the Vote’ Midterm Turnout Push
With the November 3 midterms now one month away, President Donald Trump is making sure his supporters leave no ballot uncast. In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump urged Republicans to vote by every legal means available — early, absentee, by mail, or in person — in what amounts to a full-court turnout offensive for the final stretch.
“Republicans must WIN the 2026 Midterm Elections, and we must use every appropriate tool — Whether you vote early, absentee, by mail, or in-person, we must ‘swamp’ the Radical Left Dumocrats with massive turnout!” Trump wrote. “SO IMPORTANT — PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
“Use Every Appropriate Tool”
The message marks a pragmatic turn for a president who has spent years questioning mail-in voting. Even so, Trump has consistently voted by mail himself, and he encouraged his supporters to do the same back in 2024. Now, with control of Congress on the line, the message is simpler: however you vote, just vote.
In 2024, about 37% of Democrats and 24% of Republicans reported voting by mail, according to MIT’s Election Data and Science Lab. Trump’s team wants to close that gap this cycle — banking early votes from supporters instead of leaving everything to Election Day.
A Turnout-First Strategy
The post is part of a broader campaign blitz. Trump has been barnstorming red states — Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ohio in the past week alone — telling crowds to treat the midterms as if his own name were on the ballot. “Just pretend I’m running,” he told supporters in Ohio on Saturday night. “When I run, we win.”
Republican strategists have long worried about a turnout drop-off in midterms without Trump on the ticket. By personally leading the charge and blessing every voting method, Trump is trying to turn his rallies into votes — and his voters into an early-vote machine.
The Stakes on Nov. 3
Republicans are defending narrow majorities in both the House and Senate, and Democrats need only a handful of pickups to flip the House. Trump has framed the election as a choice between continuing his agenda — tax cuts, border security, and a strong economy — and handing power to what he calls “radical” Democrats.
The president has also tied concrete promises to a Republican victory, including his proposed $5,000 dividend checks for American adults. Whether voters respond to the pitch will be decided one ballot at a time — early, absentee, mailed, or in person.
