Appearing on \u201cThe Shawn Ryan Show\u201d in a five-and-a-half-hour interview released Monday, the 55-year-old son of the former president criticized policies that defined much of Biden\u2019s White House tenure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe need vibrant immigration,\u201d Hunter Biden said. \u201cBut we don\u2019t want immigrants that are coming here illegally, draining us of resources, and being prioritized above people that are actual, literal heroes, that are still recovering from 21, 20 years of endless war \u2014 or anybody else in our society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During\u00a0Joe Biden\u2019s presidency, an estimated 2.4 million immigrants entered the U.S. each year, according to the Congressional Budget Office, with a Goldman Sachs analysis finding that roughly 60% crossed the border illegally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hunter Biden\u00a0also claimed earlier in the interview that the White House had secured Republican support for a broad border bill negotiated by Sens. James Lankford, R-Okla., Kyrsten Sinema, I-Ariz., and Chris Murphy, D-Conn., before it collapsed in an election-year standoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd then\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0stepped in six months before the 2024 election, and told Republicans that he was gonna primary every single one of them that voted for that, because we\u2019re addicted to the problem,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the Biden administration argued it needed congressional action to secure the border, Trump relied heavily on executive authority during both of his terms to tighten enforcement and curb illegal immigration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hunter Biden was even more blunt when discussing the chaotic 2021 exit from Afghanistan, calling it \u201can obvious f\u2014ing failure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think that there was a better way to do it, and \u2026 I can blame it on his generals, I can blame it on other people for the way in which we did it, but, and my dad always knew this also, is that the buck stops with him,\u201d he told host Shawn Ryan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The withdrawal culminated in an ISIS-K suicide bombing at Kabul\u2019s Hamid Karzai International Airport that killed 13 U.S. service members as they worked to evacuate Americans and Afghan allies amid the Taliban takeover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hunter Biden said he still believed leaving Afghanistan was the right decision, but\u00a0echoed\u00a0Ryan\u2019s frustration with how it unfolded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI think leaving Afghanistan was the right thing to do,\u201d he said, before agreeing with Ryan\u2019s assessment of the withdrawal. \u201cI hear your anger about that. And I don\u2019t have any response to it other than the fact that I know that my dad came from a position that 20 years was enough, and it was not in the interest of anyone in the United States [to remain there].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
